Summit Ridge Tagaytay

Since summer is so near, we decided to head to Tagaytay last Valentine’s to catch the few remaining days of the cool northeast wind.

We stayed at Summit Ridge Hotel. Here are some of the goods, bads, and betters of it.

THE VIEW

Good: The (world’s smallest) volcano is so near! This hotel can boast having one of the best aerial views of not just Taal Lake, but of the entire city.

Bad: Unlike other hotels where the rooms are far from the driveway, this one’s really close to the busy road. It gets a little too noisy sometimes.

Better: At 6am, the lake — misty, beautiful. The sunrise — majestic!

THE ROOM

Good: The bed was comfortable, the bathroom — large and clean.

Bad: It takes a few curtain stains for the germophobe in me to freak out.

Better: The cool breeze was relentless. We even turned off the aircon during the night!

THE AMENITIES

Good: They have lots of amenities such as a swimming pool (wonder how the kid below survived the cold), and other sports facilities.

Bad: Aside from the fresh fruits, breakfast was terrible. Having a wide spread, but with poor quality is a no-no. I wish they served fewer, but better food.

Better: You get to enjoy the cool breeze everywhere around the hotel — in the lobby, corridors, and even while eating that sad, sad breakfast. :P

THE SERVICE

I cannot say much about the service since we didn’t ask much from them during our stay. However, what I can give comment on is the general feel their staff give their guests: weh. I’m not saying they welcome you with open arms, but a little smile on their faces would help a lot. :)

Travel Tip: If ever we go back, we’ll probably get the room only, and have breakfast at one of the numerous cafés around the city.
